Three things are certain – I love to plan events, I love burritos and I love karaoke – especially live band karaoke. Which is why on Thursday, January 20th, a group of social media/technology geeks got together for one night to unveil some of their hidden singing talents at the first ever TweetUp Idol #singup at The Lansdowne Pub in Boston, MA. It was live-band karaoke at its best and there was no certainly no shortage of talent.

Once the band – JukeBox Heroes – began to set up, the sign-ups to sing came pouring in. Some were singing for the first time. Some were karoake veterans. But in the end…all were fantastic and brought their best performance with lots of passion. Just check out our first, ever TweetUp Idol winner – E. Christopher Clark who sang several songs during the evening including Pearl Jam’s “Alive” (one of my personal karaoke favorities).

Some performances from the night were captured on video and I apologize to any singers who hate to see and hear themselves singing on video, but you kind of asked for it by partaking in a social media karaoke event. ;)  Check it out below!

Boston TweetUp’s Joselin Mane also posted a great review of TweetUp Idol #singup with videos of the complete performances. Check it out here.

You can also check out some of the pictures from the night taken by Wayne Kurtzman and also Cait Downey. And follow the Twitter stream here.

Special thanks to Gary Lombardo for assisting in helping with TweetUp Idol and judging. Ja-Nae Duane – @TheSunQueen for judging and Jaimie Bradley of Sophwell for his help in designing the awesome TweetUp Idol logo and banner!

TweetUp Idol Winner – E. Christopher Clark shows off his TweetUp Idol trophy (I made it. Isn’t is awesome), talks about the event and the story behind his song choices during his FiveCast Video below:
