Random Thought About Why I Love Twitter

Twitterlove

As I sit here in Panera Bread in Waltham working on my computer, I can hear people all around me talking about various subjects – some I don’t care anything about, and others I would like to learn more about and actually get involved in the discussion.

Listening to the buzz around me while I am working here today, reminded me why I love Twitter so much. With Twitter, I can “see” those conversations going on among the 1800+ people I follow and either choose to get involved in that discussion, just observe or ignore completely.

I would never think of going up to the couple at the table next to me who are discussing current events and share my thoughts on the world and ask them questions. They may not want to be bothered and maybe think I am crazy for interrupting their conversation.

With Twitter, the majority of us are on there to engage with and share our thoughts, opinions and passions with others who may also share the same things. Twitter has such a low barrier to entry in reaching people that I am (generally) not afraid to tweet with anyone – whether I know them or not – and get involved in a discussion or start one.

Now I don’t have to sit by quietly while the couple at the table next to me is having an interesting discussion. I can have one or as many as I want to on Twitter.

That’s pretty damn cool!

What are some reasons why you love Twitter so much?

Connections and new people which have led to personal and professional education and value. Not to mention entertainment – watching the interactions is like sitting in a pop psych class some days.

Twitter is so much better at Panera! Have you gone to the Watertown Panera? They have live music on Saturday nights.

    Hi John,

I have not been to the Panera in Watertown, but would love to check out the live music – sounds very cool.

    Thanks!
